Canada Landsat Burned Severity product since 1985 (CanLaBS), v2 Complete information about CanLaBS v2 can be found at: https:/doi.org/10.23687/2af751e7-79f9-4da8-9b45-14688818dca3 CanLaBS v2 is an update to the Canada Landsat Burned Severity (CanLaBS) data product builds upon the methodology originally described in Guindon et al. (2021), entitled “Trends in wildfire burn severity across Canada, 1985 to 2015” and published in the Canadian Journal of Forest Research (https://doi.org/10.1139/cjfr-2020-0353). The revised version introduces several important improvements to input data sources, temporal coverage, and modeling approaches. The updated product now covers all fire perimeters included in the National Burn Area Composite (NBAC; Skakun et al., 2022) from 1985 to 2024. This substantially extends the temporal range of the dataset relative to the original release and ensures consistency with the most up-to-date national fire perimeter record used in Canada-wide disturbance analyses. There are 3 layers - CanLaBS_1985_2024_v20260121.tif - dNBR values for all burnt pixels according to NBAC - CanLaBS_salvageMask_1985_2024_v20260121.tif - Binary layer where '1' identifies pixels where salvage logging occurred - NBAC_MRB_1972to2024_reproj.tif - NBAC fire year Data projection - proj4 +proj=lcc +lat_0=0 +lon_0=-95 +lat_1=49 +lat_2=77 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +datum=NAD83 +units=m +no_defs - OGC WKT2:2018 PROJCRS["NAD_1983_Canada_Lambert",BASEGEOGCRS["NAD83",DATUM["North American Datum 1983",ELLIPSOID["GRS 1980",6378137,298.257222101004,LENGTHUNIT["metre",1]]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0,ANGLEUNIT["degree",0.0174532925199433]],ID["EPSG",4269]],CONVERSION["Lambert Conic Conformal (2SP)",METHOD["Lambert Conic Conformal (2SP)",ID["EPSG",9802]],PARAMETER["Latitude of false origin",0,ANGLEUNIT["degree",0.0174532925199433],ID["EPSG",8821]],PARAMETER["Longitude of false origin",-95,ANGLEUNIT["degree",0.0174532925199433],ID["EPSG",8822]],PARAMETER["Latitude of 1st standard parallel",49,ANGLEUNIT["degree",0.0174532925199433],ID["EPSG",8823]],PARAMETER["Latitude of 2nd standard parallel",77,ANGLEUNIT["degree",0.0174532925199433],ID["EPSG",8824]],PARAMETER["Easting at false origin",0,LENGTHUNIT["metre",1],ID["EPSG",8826]],PARAMETER["Northing at false origin",0,LENGTHUNIT["metre",1],ID["EPSG",8827]]],CS[Cartesian,2],AXIS["easting",east,ORDER[1],LENGTHUNIT["metre",1,ID["EPSG",9001]]],AXIS["northing",north,ORDER[2],LENGTHUNIT["metre",1,ID["EPSG",9001]]]] Dataset citation - Guindon L., Correia D., Perbet P. 2026.
